The best PE teacher in MJ and our principal!
I find this picture so cute! Just like SR Nathan on the pick-up during National Day Parade. Except it's now a Vespa instead of a pick-up, she's giving the thumbs up instead of doing the pageant wave and on one hand she's holding colourful balloons. Something I hope our President would do during upcoming parades.
(Read previous post before reading this...)

"I HAVE STUPID FRIENDS! but its okay korang we can all be stupid together :) i nearly forgot how it was like to be in jc.

nas, yasmin ahmad is not from tk as much as suzanne ho is not from mexico."

-Taken from Nad's blog.

If you forgot, this was what I wrote 5 months ago:

We were in a the lecture theatre where they were showing a news clipping with Suzanne Ho as the newsreader and I was sitting in between Nad and Azy.

Nad(proudly): Eh, Suzanne Ho from my school tau.
What i heard: Eh, Suzzane Ho from Mexico tau. (and hence, wondering why she said that proudly..)

5 seconds later...

Azy: Eh Nas, Suzanne Ho from my secondary school tau.
Me: Don't bluff!! Nad just told me she was from Mexico!
Azy: Nad! What rubbish!

Realising my mistake, I just kept quiet and let the 2 of them continue bickering.
SUNDAY, 25th May 2008 - I went to send back my grandmother to her place in Tampines. After that me, my mum and my sis wanted to go shopping for clothes. And it's a shame that we remember the names of the places that we wanted to go by remembering the names of the hawker centres located there because one is called Afghanistan and the other, Istanbul. Cos here's what happened when we flagged a taxi:

My mum: Uncle, can go Afghanistan?

Taxi Driver: Huh? Go where?

My mum: Afghanistan! Near, Istanbul there.

Taxi Driver: Errr... Sorry ah. My taxi cannot fly.

It gets worse... After we explained to the driver and he finally understood where we wanted to go, he pointed to the building next to where we flagged the taxi and said, "Oh, you mean there is it?" So he drove us there, we paid him $3.10 (that's how near it is!) and got out of his taxi grinning sheepishly. So embarassing... Plus, we just wasted $3.20! It's like paying to get humiliated.

After that we went home, took my brother and cabbed down to Aloha Loyang where we volunteered to help my aunt with her barbeque cum class gathering event. I was in charge of the barbeque pit. For a first timer I think I did okay... Only a fifth of the chickens got burnt! So at the end of the day, I smelled like charcoal and was feeling a little guilty cos a fifth of my aunt's guests were carcinogenated.

TUESDAY, 27th May 2008 - I went to eat at Hei Sushi at Downtown East with Khairyn and Lisda after which Aqilah joined us and we watched Ayat-ayat Cinta. It was a beautiful movie and at the end of the show we were all pretty smitten with Fahri! But beyond that, the movie manages to capture the essence of Islam and portrays it in such a beautiful manner that I wish everyone, who has ever questioned and doubted Islam, would watch it. We were all pretty enlightened after watching it except Aqilah who was the only one who managed to point out every single flaw in the movie! Aqilah, I think you should work for moviemistakes.com.

WEDNESDAY, 28th May 2008 - Lunch at Hei Sushi again! I must make a mental note not to introduce and rave about food places to my friends anymore because then, they all seem to want to eat there! Haiii...the cons of being so influential. But I don't mind spending more money if it means that I get to spend time with my beloved NYP peeps! It was kind of an unofficial sending-off lunch for me. It ended with Lina trying to trick me into singing and dancing to the 'Hei Sushi' song because according to her, we would get 10% discount this way. Haha! I guess it was her last chance to humiliate me and she was getting desperate. Lina Lina.... Don't worry ok? Somehow, I will surely manage to humiliate myself.

Hey, all of you who are holding on the pictures! Email them to me okay? Thanks!

THURSDAY, 29th May 2008 - Robinson's Sale at EXPO with Nad and Azy. We collectively put all the items that we wanted to buy into this huge, ugly, silver bag with wheels which me and Nad took turns to pull. We played the Who-Can-Hit-More-Legs-With-The-Ugly-Bag game and I won 4-3!

Then we met Khadijah!!!

Khadijah: Hello korang! Eh, you know what?? I just met Yasmin Ahmad!

Nas: Oh, is that your friend from TKGS?

Khadijah: NO LAH! She is the director of Sepet! The story is actually about her, you know!

Azy: What, that she is sepet?

Nad: Oh my god. I have stupid friends.

This, coming from the girl who once said, "I love fried food but I HATE oily food" is really a slap in the face!

Things I am going to miss about NYP:

1) The people!!!

2) Those pijak-able toddlers from the in-house childcare centre.

3) Wondering whether I'm going to see Fa(riq or dhil) in school.

4) The library cafe.

5) The I-want-to-pee sensation whenever I walk pass the fountains. And NYP has ALOT of fountains! Luckily, it has alot of toilets too.

6) Gossipping about Cocky-Cocky You-You.

Things I am NOT going to miss about NYP:

1) Teachers poking my face in the dark.

2) Choking half to death on the way into campus every morning from all those people smoking.

3) Trying to act as though I care about physics.

Goodbye, my lovely friends.
You will be sorely missed.
I'm very sure this is what I want.
But for someone that will be getting what she wants,
I am strangely sad.
Because I have to leave all of you.
If only I can have it both ways and need not choose.
Unfortunately, that's not how it works.
But, I will always be your Togemon, Bibik Anode and Miss Pots. :)

SATURDAY, 24th May 2008

I love weddings so I was very excited when another sibling of a fellow PBMA got hitched! This time it was Nadh's eldest brother. It was a very nice wedding with a Balinese setting. We wanted to take a picture with the bride and groom but they kept running away from us! I must admit we ended up looking quite stupid all huddled under a tree..

"Takper takper! Nanti boleh photoshop in the bride and groom!"

Without all these weddings, somehow, PBMA feels.....incomplete.

Fariq's brother's wedding.

Hashir's brother's wedding.

Lisda's sister's wedding.

"DON'T TOUCH THAT BREAD! THAT'S FLORK POSS!"

"Besok kat skolah Kak Ela kena choose major."
"Wah best nyer! Choose meja yang kat belakang-belakang k?"

"Do you watch Anak-anak Sidek?"
"YES! And you are just like Misbon."
"Miss Bone? Oh, you mean Anak-anak Sidek is an English cartoon?"

"Nas, Nas... I really, really wonder how your brain works..."
"It doesn't."

God works in mysterious ways. If there is one thing you hate, that will be the thing that has the annoying penchant of happening. I'm not complaining though...Maybe to a certain degree lah but it's all just... CUBAAN (ala P.Ramlee).

I'll tell you why.. This month alone I have to go through 5 excruciating interviews! 2 of them next week so technically, 3 excruciating interviews and 2 gonna-be-excruciating interviews. And i really, really, really hate interviews. Just ask Nad and Azy. If i have an interview today, i would worry about it one week before. And on the day itself, i couldn't eat and couldn't concentrate on lessons. And Nad and Azy had to endure being my pretend interviewers. Haha! Sorry guys! After that, i repaid their kindness by not paying attention to what they said cos i was too worried. Again, sorry guys!

To top it off, i have 4 tests next week! 4 tests! Did i mention that we have 4 tests? Well let me just repeat the horrendousness that is next week... 4 FREAKING TESTS! I know i went on quite a bit about me hating interviews but hating tests is self-explanatory.

On the bright side, MJ WON SOCCER FINALS!!!!

Ok, so this picture was so last year but it's okay as long as you're FEELING THE MERIDIAN MIGHT!

But let me get one thing straight though.. The year before we entered MJ, MJ won the title. For the 2 years we were in MJ, screaming our lungs out for some soccer mats we don't even like but had to do so in the name of school spirit, we lost. And now that we are out, MJ won again! What's up with that man!

But I wished i could have gone down to the stadium today! I love watching soccer matches because

a) I get to scream like nobody's business

b) from where i'm sitting, the soccer players are real tiny! So i get to imagine them as 22 cockroaches chasing a saga seed. (Hey, a girl must find a way to entertain herself during a match!)

c) I get to hit those hard and long balloons which produce one of the most annoying sounds in the world. I especially love hitting them at people's faces. And then using them to poke the people in front. And when the match is over, i get to throw it down and hit the people sitting below. Woohoo!

d) No school the next day! So i can spend the whole day...studying. (What a sad little life i led...)

And people think i care about the match. Who cares about those tiny mats killing grass? Most of the time I was asking Nad and Azy about the buildings and the swimming complex next to the stadium. And when i'm not sight-seeing, i'll be trying to shoot the VJ counterparts with my imaginary gun and i actually believed that this would help our chances. That is until, you know, we lost. But the point is, i really think it worked because 2 years later, we won!

Zakiah taught me how to 'Print Screen'. It was a failed attempt the 1st time round. You can see for yourself.
The day it rained and we were stuck in the pavilion. Sounds romantic but thing is, I was stuck with Saba Tak Sabar, Ain Berangin and Zakiah Menyampah. So, romantic? Not so much. Company? One of the best.
The day me and Saba studiously studied while these 2 sleepily slept.
The day Zakiah was confused as to why her answer was zero. "Zakiah! You Answer minus Answer, of course zero lah!"

The day I was unfortunate enough to have come across this colourful, grinning skull.

But the skull was nothing to this. I fell asleep while reading the Martini textbook and of all the thousand pages in the book, I fell asleep on this page!!! Imagine how I felt when i woke up and the first thing I saw was this!

So now you understand why I only read my physics textbook after 10 pm.

Anyway, I had my very first X-ray exposure today and this is what i exposed:

While dipping the film in the alkaline developer, i didn't realise I was dipping my sleeve as well. So I ended up smelling like ammonia for the rest of the day.

Clare's X-rayed chicken which i really really hope she didn't eat after that. I prefer my chickens barbequed than x-rayed anyday.

FRIDAY, 9th May 2008

Ignorance is definitely not bliss! Now i'm like the butt of almost all the jokes in school. Just because i thought 'smoother' is an Indian word! But nevermind lah..i'm quite used to it. Besides, no one will take my words seriously so i can criticise without feeling guilty. That's the very thin, almost negligible silver lining, i guess.
Some random conversations....

"Can I just say 'SHHHH' loudly? I can't stand the noise already!"
"No don't! You don't know the rules here in poly. Maybe the library are talkable."
"What?!"
"I mean, the library can be talked in."
"How about, 'You are allowed to talk in the library'?
"Haiyah same thing!"

"Go that toilet. That's the cleanest toilet!"
"Why would i want to go to the cleaner's toilet?"
"Don't you want to go to the cleanest toilet?"
"NO!"
"Okaaaay..."

Okay, i just discovered my favourite indian sweetmeats....GULAB JAMUN! Thing is, i can never get the name right so it was quite embarassing when ordering.

"I looove jilab gunam!"
"Gulab jamun!"

Later....

"Where's my jalib gumam?!"
"GULAB JAMUN!!!"

But the worst had to be...

"I want jilat gayung!"
"Gayung mana kau nak jilat?!"

I'm sorry but i have spoonerisms! It's not my fault!

Oh, and today, Nad, Azy, Khad, Baya, Sabarina and I went to Naked Fish Shoppe! Thanks guys for coming ALL the way to Yio Chu Kang and thanks Saba for waiting till 3pm!!!

Today was also the day i got to know how it feels like to walk around in total darkness. For practical lesson today, we got to go into the darkroom. You know, the place you have to go if you have to manually develop photos or X-ray film...It was REALLY scary not to be able to see anything! The walls were totally black and there wasn't a single source of light. AT ALL. So we ended up groping the walls (actually, groping each other, more like) to make our way through the winding passageway. At one point of time, i was suay enough to be standing right beside the light switch. Suddenly, there was a hand poking my face and i realised it was my teacher trying to switch on the lights. -_-
